Therapy options.

  • Talking Therapy.

Depending on your preference, sessions can be attended face-to-face in Sheffield or online via Zoom. For online sessions, you will simply need to have a secure internet connection and a comfortable space in which you trust you will not be disturbed or interrupted.

All sessions, whether online or in person, are held within the framework of traditional talking therapy on a 1:1 basis. As described on my about page, my counselling approach utilises a combination of methods and modalities, always with compassion at the foundation. In addition, complimentary elements can be added to the therapy structure, such as creativity and nature, which I have further outlined on this page. These options can be discussed further in your initial session (complimentary 20 minute phone or Zoom call), which can be arranged by following the contact link below.

  • Creative Therapy.

Talking about our thoughts and feelings with a professional can be hugely helpful and liberating, but what about those feelings that we can’t put a name to? Regardless of your artistic skill, sometimes using creative materials such as clay, paint, or imagery can go a long way in releasing emotions that were otherwise stuck. Adding a creative element to sessions can also help the therapy process feel more relaxed, as there is a second point of focus and a practical outlet for the conversation. There is no expectation on you to create a masterpiece - this is therapy, not an art class! The creative element would be purely to provide you with an effective way to process your thoughts and emotions along the therapeutic journey.

This is entirely optional, and open to anyone who feels interested in exploring thoughts or emotions in a different dimension.

  • Outdoor Therapy.

Nature is a healer and a perfect resource for mindfulness practice, which can help relieve symptoms of anxiety, low mood and depression. If utilising the outdoor world as the co-therapist in your sessions with me is something that interests you, I also offer walk-and-talk counselling in pathed woodland or reservoir locations in Sheffield. Weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear is a necessity and your own responsibility. Further planning and clarification can be discussed during your initial session. All clients wishing to utilise an outdoor therapy option will need to attend at least one face-to-face session at The Practice Rooms before outdoor sessions commence.

Note: Due to insurance and safety measures, outdoor sessions are only available to clients age 16 and above.
